Progress: We’ve been hearing about it for years now, and finally, the Volvo Car manufacturing plant in Berkeley County is open for business. It’s the first Volvo plant ever in the United States. A very convenient commute to Summer Wind in Summerville, SC. Volvo has formed the Volvo Car Good Neighbor Collaborative. And at the center of this initiative, they have partnered with local community leaders from Berkeley, Dorchester and Charleston counties to guide us in our relationships across the Lowcountry. These leaders have been volunteering their time and expertise to serve on Volvo Cars’ Community Advisory Group.
Short Commute: Summer Wind is also just a quick 20-minute drive to the Mercedes-Benz South Carolina factory. Mercedes-Benz Vans LLC, a division of global truck maker Daimler AG, plans to invest around $500 million and creating potentially up to 1,300 jobs, for its Sprinter van!
